Scritorio Docs

Scritorio is a local-first AI editorial studio for indie and serious authors working on complex books and long-form manuscripts. The author writes the book. Scritorio helps read, critique, check continuity, clarify argument, protect canon, develop visuals, and coach revision without taking over the author’s voice. The first commercial audience includes indie authors who want professional-grade editorial help, production readiness, and a clearer path to self-publishing while keeping ownership of their manuscript, files, process, and voice. The same workflows should also support authors pursuing traditional publishing.

Current Repository Shape

  • examples/the-long-silence/ contains a real Obsidian vault used as the first example project.
  • apps/desktop/ contains the Tauri, Svelte, TypeScript desktop scaffold.
  • packages/cli/, packages/core/, and packages/schema/ contain the first shared CLI, project, and SQLite schema pieces.
  • The docs are Mintlify-ready and use docs/docs.json for navigation.

Product Direction

Scritorio will focus on local Markdown projects, book and series organization, editorial review, reader simulation, writing coaching, nonfiction source workflows, visual thinking tools, agent-friendly automation, local report storage, and an eventual path from first draft to self-publishing-ready book files, EPUB/ebook exports, and narrated audio versions. The first public release should concentrate on fiction authors and indie fiction publishing. Technical writing and technical nonfiction workflows are important, but they belong in Version 2 after the fiction manuscript loop is strong.
